*.idx files
i noticed yesterday that a load of *.idx files have found their way into my My Music folder.
i've googled around a bit and have found out that they could have been produced by Nero, outlook express (which i don't use, anymore) or various other programs. i installed sonicstage a few weeks ago for a new minidisc player and was wondering if that could have created them. they are called things like CA00.IDX and go up in a pattern up to STFF.IDX. anyhow, i just wanted to know if they can be deleted or moved to a less annoying location. i wanted to ask here because it's kind of unnerving having 1290 files turn up in a folder and not having a clue where they came from, what they are or if they can be removed. thanks for all the help this forum has given me in the past. |

How large are the files? Are they all the same size?
Try opening the files up in a hex editor to see if you can find any clues. |

they're all 4kb. all of them together are 5.2MB. i will try with a hex editor tomorrow, at the moment i'm looking for a program that uses my My Music folder to store information. i have also done a full virus scan with norton.
