Please help, I can't delete this file.

There's this really annoying file that I can't delete. I think it's a rom that somebody downloaded onto my computer. When I right-click on the file the list only has 'Open' and 'Send To' Nothing else! And when I try to delete the folder that the file is in it says: "Cannot delete DONKEY~3: Cannot find the specified file. Make sure you specify the correct path and file name." Please help, I don't know what to do. Thanks in advance and I hope someone can help me soon.

What OS??
If XP, try entering Command Prompt and 'cd' to the folder, then type 'del (filename)'

It might be a virus, run ure anti-virus.
If somebody hack in your computer and made your comp as an ftp(host), Just change ur ip and that will resolve ur problem or you can go in dos to solve it.

Oftentimes that still won't work because the file will be either a system file or read only, which is somewhat typical virus behaviour. Usually what I do is to go to the command prompt and change the file using the attrib command. attrib -S -H -R filename, then it can be deleted using the del command.

Can you give me an example of how to do that, please?

Have you tried completely shutting down the computer, then booting up and deleting it? What that does is clear the RAM so that in case the file was still lodged in it, it should then be cleared out and able to be deleted.

I've had similar problems with deleting files. I suggest doing what Force_Flow said. It seems to always work for me. Just make sure you delete the file right away. Don't do anything else first, and don't try to open the file again.
