Make a program use more memory in XP-how? even possible?

If a particular program (in this case Bryce 5) only uses a certain percentage of RAM and there's no mechanism from within the program itself to increase RAM, can this be done outside the program in XP itself? IS there some kind of memory allocation per program setup in XP?

I've always assumed that programs like bryce just gobbled up any free RAM there happened to be.
