"sleep timer" program...
here's my situation: i watch tv at night through my computer, and once i fall asleep my computer stays on. so the noise of my computer wakes me up.
so i was wondering if there is any kind of software that turns your computer off at a given time (for free). i've found "shut up", and it works well but isn't free. thought i'd check to see if anyone here knew of any program that would work for me. if not i'll just pay for the program, its only a few bucks. thanks. |

make a scheduled task with shutdown -s -t 0 in the run section. I never tried it but it works in icons so i dont see why it wouldnt work as a task.

Doesn't windows have an option in their Display settings to shut down the monitor and the harddrive after a certain amount of time. I think the monitor has to be power save compliant, but I believe the computer will just shut down. Never used it myself so I am not 100% sure. At least you may be able to send the computer into a state where it is not making any noise.
