Sony VAIO notebook help

I'm trying to install a wireless network adapter into a Sony VAIO PCG-FXA33 laptop. The cardbus controllers show up in the device manager, but nothing happens when you put the card in the slots. I also cannot find anything like a Cardbus Manager, shouldn't there be some software or something? I checked the BIOS and there's nothing there related to the PCMCIA slots. Help?!

PS - Sony's website stinks.

Did the wireless card come with a cd?

but nothing happens when you put the card in the slots-> What are you expecting it to do that isn't happening?

The OS is XP Home. Yes, the card came with a CD, which I installed, following the directions step by step. What I'm expecting is for the "power" light on the card to come on, and Windows to go "hey look, new hardware!" Neither happens. A friend had his laptop near, so I got his wireless NIC card, which he was using at the time, so I know it works, and put it in. Same thing, which is, absolutely nothing. So I put the NIC I bought in his laptop, and it immediately powered up and was detected by Windows. So it is definitely related to the PCMCIA slots on the VAIO laptop.

Simple thing - but easliy over looked - did you clean out the PCMCIA slot with a shot of air? The slot just might be dirty and inhibiting contact between the card and your laptop.

Dave.
