AVG - Connection to Internet not Established

I have DSL, and have 3 computers networked to share internet connection. They all have AVG 6.0 Free Edition and all are ok, except for one. I downloaded and installed XP Service Pack 2 and around the same time, my AVG stopped updating for the last 2 or 3 weeks now. When I try, I get a message "the connection to the internet could not be established..." The other 2 computers, which don't have SP2, don't have any problems with updating my AVG. Also, at the same time, 2 other programs (spybot and AOL Spyware) stopped getting updates.

I've also tried to go the AVG website to download manually, but the latest file update 6.0.769 (as of 9/24/04) is not available for download. The most recent update available for download is 6.0.762. Does anybody know what the problem might be and the solution? I would appreciate any help. Thank you in advance.

I dont think your problem is sp2 related,as I have sp2 and have no problems updating avg,at least not on my rig or the other 5 cpu`s I help maintain. When you go to the avg site, and attemp tp download the update, can you see the update that you need or can you only see the current file?
I went to the avg site and see your problem,my avg updates go very well, however when I went to the site,I noticed that when I hit the select button I too found the older version file that you have now,but instead of hittinig the select free edition scroll down without selecting the button and there are the updated file you can download, for instance the file I think you are looking for is u619tv7s.bin.Click on it and you will be able to download it there.
It`s easier if you follow this link and then just scroll about halfway down and you will see the file to download. http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_updt6.php
Sorry for such a longwinded answer but was trying to specific.

Hi! First off, thank you for responding. I saw that file that you're referring to, but I wasn't sure if that file would work with the Free Edition. Isn't that file for 6.0 Professional or are they all the same? If it'll work, then I will definitely download it.

Do you or anybody else happen to know why my AVG isn't updating anymore and it keeps telling me that I don't have connection to the net when I have DSL?

Thanks again for your help, Eldon. Thanks in advance to anybody else that might be able to shed some light into this.

I noticed it was for the pro version also,I have the free edition and it is the same file version I have.i think the paid version at the time is version 7 anyway. The fact that you have your rigs networked together may have something to do with you inability to update thru your antivirus update center,as sp2`s security features may be blocking certain file types that try to run from each rig on your network.I am sure someone else on here can help figure that one out.It is the same file however and should give you the most up to date virus protection.
Oh and p.s. welcome to the forum,I have found this the most helpful place on the web when it comes to computer problems, very nice and extremly helpful folks.

I had what sounds like the same problem once and I uninstaled AVG and then reinstalled it and that sorted the problem out.
