Layman attempting to build own computer here!
Hi,
I am a person of limited computer knowledge, yet with enough to get the basics. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions with what I should use to build my computer. I want the best of the best when it comes to video and sound because I want to to a lot of image rendering and multiple heavy memory applications. My computer I have now is about ten years old and has a bootleg of MS 2000 Professional on it. I am bored with it and want something faster and better. I hope to make a mighty beast out of this over the span of about a year since I am tight on cash. Thanks for your help! |

Might read through the "General Hardware" forum. Your question is the single most popular question.

Welcome to PC Mech! Please take a moment to read the Rules so you know what is acceptable and unacceptable to post here. One thing we can't talk about is pirated software, so comments about your bootleg copy of Windows aren't appropriate for this forum.
Otherwise, as EzyStvy said, browse through the Hardware forum and ask questions if you have any. We're more than happy to help you put together a great PC for your needs. |

Welcome to PC Mech forums
![]() As aforementioned, Gen Hardware is the best place for this. Besides that, a few questions (I'm sure the mods'll take care of moving it) - do you have a preference AMD or Intel? Also, what do you think will be the overall budget of the system? Not to worry about timespan - I've built my computer over the span of 11 months and all worked out fine. kram
