Hi - I am using AOL 4.0 and now I have a real problem with the file that contains the Personal Filing Cabinet and the Address Book.
I was deleting some files out of the Personal Filing Cabinet and when I was finished deleting I compacted the file. The problem is that it was taking forever to compact and seemed to be frozen, so I reset the computer (ctrl-alt-del) and got out of it. Then when I went back into AOl, I got an AOL error accessing the file, and my address book, personal filing cabinet and favorites were all wiped out. I talked to AOL...they suggested copying, renaming the file and then opening it manually in AOL which I tried, but it still didn't open it- which they say means the file is corrupted and can't be fixed. Does anyone know how to rescue a file like this? |

Turning off a pc while it's doing something like compacting files is as bad as it gets!
By any chance have backups of important data like this? |

Maybe a database recovery specialist can do something with it, but it's going to be very costly.
