Can you describe "messed up?" Maybe someone will have a solution or something?

Run a search of the harddrive for the ie.inf file. Once found, right click on it and left click on Istall.

It may be a hidden file so make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked in MyComputer>Tools>Folder Options>View tab.

Since you're running XP, in Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs>Add/Remove Windows Components you can click on Internet Explorer as if you were going to remove it and it should give you the option to repair it.

First try an AV scan, spybot scan, and adaware scan.
