MS Outlook...cannot sent to certain domains...

Hey kids,

My dad uses MS Outlook XP to send/receive email. Everything is fine if he sends to whoever@ispgoeshere.com, but if he tries to send emails to individiuals that have yahoo, hotmail, etc. as their domain, he gets it returned by the System Adminstrator saying that it failed to send.

This had never happened just until recently when he took his system in to a comp. shop because it had a virus and problems occurred when he got it back. I removed all the Norton/McAffee stuff from his system that the shop put in and there are no firewalls enabled. I did a virus scan with AVG and housecall, did the spyware scan thing, but nothing. Any suggestions...?

He is running WindowsME (yikes!) and OfficeXP. Thanks...

Hi J,

I'm guessing here, but is it possible that the autocomplete for addresses in Outlook has gone screwy? Is he manually typing in the full address?

Also you mention System Administrator - if this is a stand-alone machine, is that right? Did the guy at the shop give himself admin rights while working on the machine?

Just a thought........

Chris

When an email is returned, you are given a reason in the NDR (Non-Delivery Report). Most often with Hotmail, Yahoo, etc. it is because the mailbox is full. Does it list a reason for return? It could also be that they have blocked you since you sent them a virus.

There is no reason for the return...weird stuff...I would understand if it was only my e-mail that was blocked, but it is everyone that has a yahoo, hotmail, etc...i checked the rules in outlook, but it does not have any rules listed...dont know what else to do....
