error when converting wma to mp3

i have some files in wma format that i ripped really quick before leaving for school. the cd is at home. i didn't have an mp3 ripper and didn't feel like getting one quick. now i want to put these files on my ipod, but everytime i try to convert with different converters, it never works, and i get different error messages on each program. does anyone know why a file would just not convert to mp3? thanks a lot

I've never used any of these, but something is sure to work.

yea, that is how i came up with the three that i tried to use. its not that big a deal, i can just get the original cd next time i go home. just thought there would be an easy way to do it. thanks a lot guys. by the way, i tried some other wma files i had, and they worked fine. is there any possibility there is some extra information on the file keeping it from being converted? thanks

Did you happen to uncheck "Copy Protect Music" in Windows Media Player before ripping? If not, that could be the root of your problem.

Have you tried goldwave? That has an easy conversion feature that I haven't had a problem with yet.

I don't believe the free version of Goldwave can output MP3. Only WMA. Maybe I'm missing something?

Version 4.25 needed a special plug-in (which I was never able to get to work on my system), but version 5 has included mp3 support.

Thanks, I'll have to check that out. I didn't know there was a new version. I could never get that special plug-in to work either.
