Opening connections problem due to SP2: TCPIP.sys modification

Hi everybody,

Normally I'm the one asking al the questions and sometimes I even feel embarressed not being able to contribute more to the great PCMECH community.

But this is something really worth sharing, I think. Some of you probably might have noticed that programs making a lot of connections to the other networks or computers are slowing down since the installation of SP2. It had to do with the opening of connections in a certain period of time (I'm no expert in this field btw). Well the problem freaked me out, because I'm not paying that kind of money for a cable connection. So I like to get the most out of its capabilities. As usuall I tried to find some info at the PCMECH forums but I couldn't find any.

So I went to this thread http://forums.shareaza.com/showthrea...threadid=25700 (on the Shareaza forums) where I initially spotted this problem. After reading this thread I opened this link http://forums.shareaza.com/showthre...&threadid=24260 and read about the options.

Now there is a modification to increase the opening of the connections to 50 connections (instead of the 10 connections since SP2) at this forum.

And there is a modification to increase those connections to "unlimited" (like in SP1 and before).

I immediatly tried the last one and installed the modification in the 3 mentioned folders. It worked great for me. I hope somebody else can put this information to good use to.

Kind regards,

PiC
