Good program for organizing mp3's?

Hey guys, I need some help finding a good program for organizing my mp3 collection. I currently have over 6700 mp3's on my computer (mostly legal - I back up all my CDs onto my desktop). The problem is that there's no easy way to go back and make them all fit into a consistent filenaming convention. The latest version of Winamp's media library feature makes it pretty easy to edit the id3 tags, although I suppose it could be better. The main thing I want is a way to go in and alter the filenames themselves. If it's possible actually to read the file's ID3 tag and then assign a new filename in "Artist - Title.mp3" format (or something similar), that would be even better. Does anyone know of a program which let's me do something like this? Even a close approximation would be good - it would take me forever to go back and do each one individually. Please help!

iTunes does a great job with organizing. Just import all your existing MP3s and it will rename them and put them into folders.

I'm not a big fan of Apple, but I'm downloading iTunes to give it a test run. I just hope this isn't the first step down the path toward buying an iPod. Icky.

wouldn't that make you exactly the same as me, since we both now have iTunes, but neither of us has an iPod?

I'm a pretty big fan of the stuff that Apple makes - I've liked their OS ever since about 10 years ago in their big bulky all-in-one powermacs and iMacs.

I've been using Musicmatch for years. It organizes your library via tags.

It actually renames the files themselves?

If tried what seems to be thousands of mp3 softwares. I have to say, i have never found anything better than iTunes. Greatest sofware for my music iv ever used. Keeps everything in order, easy to keep track of.

What i like most about it, is its so easy to make mixes. Easy to save them, and then even easier to burn them.

I recommend at least trying out iTunes, you wont regret it.

No, it doesn't touch the file names, just the ID tags.

I havent used iTunes but might give a try later on today... I use MusicMatch and I have to say its the best that I have used for tagging and re-naming. It looks up tags via internet then I rename files from tags... Artist - Artist Album - Track - Title...

I have yet to find anything better.

The great thing about iTunes is you really never need to worry about how it's organized in the folder. iTunes has such a great interface that you barely ever need to get to the file. It is organized nicely though.
