have a mozilla question
I'm using firefox and thunderbird for my mail. I can't get thunderbird to show up on the current page's task bar. Do I have to actually open thunderbird when I check my mail. Is there some way to put a icon on the mozilla page.
Also, since mozilla is my default browser I can't use IE. I can't find the place to change my default browser. Where is it please. Also, is there anyway to get firefox to dial automaticly when I clik the icon?

To change default browser etc. go to Start, and Set Program Access and Defaults. There you can change stuff like that. The only thing I can think of for Thunderbird is to minimize it to the system tray, it then alerts you when you get new mail, and you can set how often you want it to do that. You can get an extension to do this at: http://minimizetotray.mozdev.org/ (follow the instructions for Thunderbird).

If you set it to dial automatically, your modem is going to dial whenever ANY software on your computer wants Internet access. This can be good and bad. Your antivirus will automatically update, but spyware and Trojans can open the connection too. I always recommend that Internet Options are set to never dial a connection. Drag a shortcut to your dialup connection out to your desktop or quicklaunch and use that to connect manually.
Why can't you use IE? Just click on the big blue E. I have six browsers on this computer, and Opera is my default. I can use any browser by clicking on its icon. Last edited by glc; 10-17-2004 at 11:03 AM. |

If I understand you correctly, you want a button in Firefox that opens Thunderbird: right-click the toolbar, select customize, drag the Mail icon and drop it on the toolbar.
