Exclamation Recording Software

Anyone know any good voice recording software preferably freeware? I own the Creative SB Audigy LS which came with its own suite but I cannot seem to find a recording software from my microphone...same with WMP 10.

Thanks,
kram

Creative recorder should have the ability to record from line or microphone, etc. You should have gotten it with the suite of programs, if not download the latest version from Creative directly.

Have you tried Audacity? It records from a microphone, and has support for mp3, wav and ogg files. I have a ZS myself, but unfortunatley my brother broke my microphone a while ago and so I have never tried it.

The only problem with Audacity, I saw, was that it would not allow me to record in either MP3 or Wave format...or has that changed? Last time I looked at Audacity was three years ago...

Thanks,
kram

In the latest Langa newsletter:

An essential and free tool for recording anything from your
Microphone or Line In inputs which automatically converts to
several digital formats is HarddiskOgg. You can find it at
http://www.fridgesoft.de/harddiskogg.php The unique advantage
of this program is adjustable "on the fly" normalization. Works
great for recording live or for copying LPs and cassette tapes.

Audacity will export to .wav or MP3. The Creative recorder should also record from the microphone.

If possible, I wanted to use a program that was already installed...in this case, like the Creative software that I have. Any ideas as to where exactly this is? I've fiddled around with finding a recording software from their Creative Suite but to no avail. I wish to export into .wav files.

Thanks,
kram

Yours is the Audigy "1" (meaning not "2") yes? Just use the "Record What You Hear" utility. I don't have the first version of the card installed (updated to the "2") but I think is was just called "Creative Recorder."

Once again, I suggest goldwave, however, it is shareware.

Kram, I have the Audigy ES and I believe the software suite is the same. I opened the "Creative Recorder" (Start > All Programs > Creative > Sound Blaster Audigy > Creative Recorder) and the microphone option is right there in the Record From drop-down box.
