Success to a point...
Thanks to all with their suggestions. Now looking at a screen that goes as follows:
"Intel Corp. D865PERL Desktop Board. s/n ####### Intel Pentium 4, 3 GHz DDR400->Operating in dual-channel dynamic paging mode. 1024 System RAM Legacy Keyboard...Detected. USB Legacy...Enabled. Entering Setup. Press F12 if you want to boot from the network." Seems like pushing any key doesn't budge this screen to anything else. Hope for any suggestions. Rob |

Success !!!
It appears that my CD burner was messing up my POST, and as luck had it-it was the first thing I disconnected. Now if I can install Windows XP Home
