Question anybody know of a free program to recover lost files from a cd?

Usually you're SOL. Don't know about "free" ones, but often there is a utility included in burner software that will check your CD and attempt "recovery."

The full retail version of Adaptec EZ CD Creator 4 (before the Roxio buyout) had a Scandisk program that could sometimes repair burned CD's. I dunno if Roxio kept it.
