Angry AIM/Java issues

I'm using AIM version 3.2.3292
I'm using Java version 1.4.2_05 (build 1.4.2_05-b04)
The AIM is accompanied by Dead Aim.

When i have AIM opened, for some reason (only in the last 1 or 2 days), Java opens up too. I have no idea why.
And, (most likely related), whenever working with AIM, or even having it opened, the CPU is maxed out on AIM. 100% devoted. I exit out, and it takes about 5 minutes. I have a feeling that there is a virus/spyware that runs using java, through my AIM connection, screwing w/ my computer.

I've tried exiting and reopening AIM. didn't work
I've tried rebooting the comp. didn't work
Even uninstalling and reinstalling (the new version of) AIM didn't work: the new version didn't have deadAIM attached.
Always opened java and overloaded my CPU.

(Most likely UNRELATED), i got the google desktop search (beta) software installed a few days ago. I doubt they have anything to do w/ each other.

I am out of ideas. please help ASAP. I like aim, and would like to start using it again.

Try going to http://oldversion.com and downloading AIM 5.5.

Also, I highly suggest getting rid of google desktop. It poses a huge security risk on your system.

Try scanning with adaware and spybot to get rid of any spyware on the system. Make sure you update the definitions in both programs before you run the scans.
