Driver Issues

I have recently came across some problems. I am not sure whats causing it, which is why I am posting. Anywayz...

I play Tribes Vengence, and a couple times now I have been playing, and my pc will just freeze, to the point where I can only fix it by physcially pushing my power button, and holding it until it shuts off. I had thought it could be my drivers, because I ran into a similar problem while playing Call of Duty a while back. However, this was due to certian new drivers not working well with Call of Duty. I had my original drivers that came with my video card installed. So I thought maybe I would need to update them. However, when I did this, I went into the game and it was complete choppness. I couldn't even barly move my cursor in game. (CATALYST 4.10 Drivers, with my ATi 9600 128mb card). So I uninstalled them, and went back to my original (which are CATALYST 3.7s), went into game, and my game is STILL choppy. What to do next?

Any help is well appreciated. Thanks!

You have to uninstall one set of drivers before you install another. They don't like it when you install overtop of an older set. (I suggest trying 4.6 or 4.8)

Try scanning for spyware with spybot and adaware. You may have apps running in the background hogging resources.
