need to clean computer

I have to turn in my laptop computer as I am taking a new job. I would like to clean it so there is no trace of my files, emails, web history, etc. What is the best way to do this? Is reformatting the best way?

If you have saved all the personal data you'd like to keep, then using the restore disk(s) would put it back just the way it was when you got it.
