Visual Basic compatability question

A friend wrote a financial program using Visual Basic 6.0 Learning Edition.
He was using Windows98.

Now he wants to buy a laptop which has WindowsXP.
But, Visual Basic won't work in XP unless its upgraded.

He wants to avoid rewriting his executable files (.exe files) and still use it in XP.
How does he do this?

A guess - download and install the latest VB6 runtime.

Are you sure it wont work? I have VB6 Enterprise edition and it works fine.... I just have to install Microsoft Virtual Machine before installing.
