I also prefer PowerDVD, but WinDVD isn't too bad either. The reason I prefer PowerDVD to WinDVD is that with a couple of my DVDs, WinDVD would have a few pauses during playback, but those same DVDs worked fine when I played them with PowerDVD.

I am using PowerDVD XP and it is a marked improvement over WinDVD4 which I was using before.

Using PowerDVD XP, too. Great program, and I like it better than WinDVD.

Most times one of them comes with your DVD-ROM drive and your graphics card, so I'd look on respective CDs, maybe you find PowerDVD or WinDVD on it.

That's an excellent point. For me, I was lucky enough to get both PowerDVD and WinDVD included because of the parts I bought for my build. WinDVD came with my MB, and PowerDVD came with my DVDROM drive.

I'm using WinDVD, only because it came bundled with my P4P800D. I guess it's a good program; I haven't really tried anything else, because I haven't needed to. The only thing I don't like about it is the 'OEM' version(which I have)doesn't support more than 2 speakers. For better speaker support, you have to "upgrade". I think PowerDVD XP came bundled with my Lite-On CD-RW, maybe I'll give that a try.

My copy of PowerDVD XP came bundled with my DVD+-RW and it runs my 5.1's with perfect surround sound.
I have supplied and fitted quite a few DVD's over the years and my copy of PowerDVD XP, was the first one I had received bundled (rather than WinDVD which all the others came with) that needed an activation code, maybe thats why it runs so well, possibly a full version, not OEM.
