Windows Movie Maker Problem
I'm having a problem saving my movie in Windows Movie Maker. (No, I don't mean the project, I mean saving it as a movie file.) Well, first of all, I had to convert the video file format of one of the videos in my movie from .mov to .avi by renaming it from something.mov to something.avi cuz the WMM didn't seem to support .mov files. So after converting it, it could be imported into WMM. After I finished sequencing all the audios/videos, I tried to save the movie. Sadly, an ERROR came out
.Well here's what it said:- WMM cannot save the movie to the specified loaction. Verify that the original source files used in your movie are still available, and that there is enough free disk space available, and then try again. Learn more about saving movies So I clicked on the "saving movies" thing and they had a list of the possible reasons:- -Movie file exceeds the FAT32 4-gigabyte size limit. *. . . I'm sure just 2 mins 3 mins of video cant get to 4 GB -Not enough disk available free disk space. *There's pretty much enough space. 27GB. -Movie file saving destination does not exist. *Drive C (C:\) DOES exist, doesn't it? -Source files for movie not found. *I didn't touch the files after importing them into WMM. After double-checking, the movie still didn't seem to save.. ![]() Can someone tell me what's wrong?? |

Renaming a file isn't the same thing as converting it. Looks like you need a real converter to get started.

I agree - you need to convert the format of the file, not just rename it. Quicktime files (.mov and .qt) use a proprietary codec and compression scheme. Microsoft does not want to pay royalties to Apple to allow MovieMaker to use those formats (the simple answer). So you'll need a converter to change the codec and compression scheme to something MovieMaker can utilize (.wmv, .avi or .asf). And unfortunatly, since all of the formats mentioned are proprietary, finding a free converter that is at all capable will be difficult.
