.wdb files
I have a client that used to use ms works, they have a file in the .wdb file format, which I am told is a ms works database file. Does anyone know if there is a way to open this file without having ms works? As they are now using office and dont have their old software. Are there any converters?
Thanks

.wdb-> Database (MS Works)
Try right clicking the file and select Open With->Excel and see what happens. |

since its a database, have you tried opening it with access? you may have more luck with that, as access is a database program

Bad news and some good
This is what I got out of Help in Access 2003.
Import a Microsoft Works database You can't import (import: To copy data from a text file, spreadsheet, or database table into an Access table. You can use the imported data to create a new table, or you can append (add) it to an existing table that has a matching data structure.) a Microsoft Works database (.wdb) directly into Microsoft Access. You must first use Microsoft Works to save the file to one of the file formats that Microsoft Access can import. Open the database by using Microsoft Works. On the File menu, click Save as. In the Save as type box, select dBASE IV (*.dbf), and then click OK. Import the dBASE IV .dbf file that you created in step 3 into Microsoft Access. I also found this googling, but you are still tied to having the works software Save the WDB file in DBASE IV or CSV format out of MS Works Load this file and save it in Excel But, for 30.00 you can get works from Amazon and then convert, maybe the software would be useful to a family member/friend so you could pass it along after the one task is finished..... http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...161832-5765746
