AVI codec
I need a Codec that can read AVI files for windows media player. Can anyone tell me where to get this

if your looking just to play a avi without alot of headaches just download free vlc player it doesnt require codecs or anything and will play any format of my knowlodge

Media Player can read basic AVI files. But AVI files encoded with DivX, XviD or MPEG-4 may be a problem. Head over to Doom9.org and go to the download section. Grab the Gordian Knot Codec Pack - it will have just about every AVI codec you'll ever need. And unlike other codec packs, the Gordian Knot Pack properly installs all the codecs and doesn't make a mess of your registry.
