Nortons Ghost
Good evening folks...I just perchased Nortons Ghost,and since I am haveing problems with my modem not connecting,I think it may be a windows problem,I want to format and reinstall 2K,BUT dont want to reload all my good stuff again...I have a 120gig HHD partitoned in halfe,NOW the question is can I just clone the "C" partition to the "G" partition,format"C" and reinstall win2K???TIA...GaryD

That should work fine, only think I can think may happen is it will detect a bootable partition on G and think you want to have a dual boot system and give U an options menu at the begining of windows to choose what windows load you want to boot from..

As long as you copy the datra over to the other partition and boot from the CD, you should have no problem. Just make sure you delete the right partition.

What you want to do is counterproductive. When you clone it back, you put it back the way it was before you started, nullifying the reinstall.

If your using windows xp your best bet would be to do a repair install if you dont feel like reinstalling everyting.

But you have a modem problem, so reinstall the modem with the latest drivers.

Repair install of 2k is possible, look at my thread in Tips and Tricks about moving a win2k hard drive.

I would just copy and paste my documents, pictures and such over to that other partition cause your going to want to install programs fresh also on that other partition after fresh install of windows..
