New build...Linux?

I am building a computer next month. I think i will go with linux... at least at first. Which version do you guys recomend? Red hat? Can yall post a link of a version you think i should download and go with or just say an exact name?

The computer is a 3.0ghz with HT P4 that I will mostly use for internet, music, and word processing.

Thanks -

I would strongly recommend that you dual boot with a windows O/S of your choice.
linux is not a easy one to learn, it has a very largs learning curve compared to windows, and it would be nice and convenient to have windows to use at times.

I personaly use red hat ver 9.0 and ver 7.1, and still do not use it full time.

there are many differant distros avabile and there is no one that is best.

when you do pick one be sure to print out the user manual for referance and maybe a good book from the local book store to help in learning it.
