data recovery

I had some trouble with the HD before and could not boot, so I bought a data recovery program called Media Tools Professional and am using the File Recovery Tree from MTP. I am stuck. I formatted my other 200GB HD. I installed both the HDs and did everything it told me to. Then, I selected the correct drive. I clicked OK and it said that I had an error.

"Error: 'C:\recover.zip' could not be created."

If anyone has MTP, can you help me?

Thanks!

EDIT: 100th post!

The drives need to be activated in the program to allow them to be written to, did you do this?

You can contact the people that make the program, they are very helpful and willing to work with you.

You also must have the drive you are writing to formatted as FAT32.

Did all that. I figured out what to do. For some reason, when I created a directory and then put the zip file there, it started working. Thanks for trying. It's in progress right now on my 1st computer.

Thanks again!

I originally found the program while trying to recover data for a friends system. He had tried a number of programs and none of them could see any of the data, MTL was the only one.

I wasn't crazy about the price but since I do tech support I figured that I might be able to eventually recover my investment.

I find the program a little quirky but definitely powerful.

In my friends case he had carefully converted all of his CD's into mp3 files and had them on this drive, 50+ gigs worth, he came home one day and the system told him they were all gone. MTL was able to recover all but a couple of files (they had weird long file names) and my friend was very happy.
