Photoshop CS is basically Photoshop 8. Elements is a stripped down version of CS. That and a $500 price difference.

It depends on what you're wanting to do. Elements would probably be fine for you. Unless you're prepared to spend $600 on CS.

Don't know about that site. Check resellerratings.com for customer input.

If you are a student or teacher, you can get great deals on Adobe products at www.academicsuperstore.com with a valid ID.

Photoshop CS is a suite of graphics software. It intergrates with other Adobe suites. 7.0 and CS are very similar in function. CS has a few more (new functions that 7.0 does not have. What is your skill level in digital photography? Are you planning to get heavy into dig photog? I would suggest check out http://www.adobe.com/digitalimag/main.html . There are try out programs there. See what you like. I do alot of digital imagery and art so the cost was worth it. Also you may want to get one and buy the classroom in a book and teach yourself. There is ALOT to both of these programs.

As already mentioned, whether you're getting Photoshop or Photoshop Elements depends on the degree to which you use it and how well you can use it. I design websites frequently - and so I sometimes work around with templates and so I use Photoshop 7. For most people, Photoshop Elements is more than enough - it has most of the main functions needed to succesfully photo edit. I guess it depends on how much you wish to pursue digital imaging.

Yes you can buy the software through adobe or through retail outlets.
There are many good sites. Look at newegg and a few others they may be a little less than the adobe site.

That link bothers me. Company is new, 2004. All software is downloaded, no returns of any kind, refunds sound complicated, reviewers are blank. Things that seem too good to be true often are. I wouldn't spend my money there. But that's just my cautious nature.

Kevin,
That link is not an adobe site. CS usually runs around $600 or so. $129 for CS I would wonder. Even the up grade wil run around $179. Here is the Adobe official site there are try out software herehttp://www.adobe.com/digitalimag/main.html

Again, check out the link I gave above for Academic Superstore. If you have a student ID, they're licensed by adobe to sell at hugely discounted prices for full versions of the adobe products. I've gone through them three different times with good results.

Yes, as long as you can fax them some sort of ID. Check their website. There's an eligibility link or something like that that lays it all out.

I purchasd the Adobe Premiere suite, which has Premiere Pro 1.5, Encore, Audition, and After Effects, as well as Photoshop CS (and goes for around $1,600 at CompUSA and similar stores) for $600 after a $50 rebate. They are all FULL retail versions.

Acad. Superstore has the whole book series, tho I'm not sure on price. Surely amazon would have them.
