Microsoft Software

Hey,

I've been using my laptop, a Toshiba WinXP SP2 laptop for most of my typing, spreadsheet, and presentation work. However, as of the late, I've been wanting to do it on my desktop - my laptop battery life was considerably shortened, SP2 has made things run slower (on top of other things), among other reasons made my laptop a less reasonable option.

So I want to get Microsoft Office XP or 2003 on my desktop. I have used both and have seen very little difference except the interfaces between the two - so either is fine. Has anyone seen where I can procure an inexpensive BUT LEGAL copy of Microsoft Office XP or 2003?

kram

If you already have a legal license of Microsoft Office XP or 2003, you are legally entitled to install it in 2 places that you use : a desktop and a portable device. Check out http://forum.pcmech.com/showpost.php...69&postcount=3

The laptop MS Office 2003 is under a school Academic Liscence - forgot to mention. So I don't think I can install on two systems. But thanks though.

Look for academic pricing on software at your institution's computer store; I know most universities have one. Hopefully you have one as well. Have you tried to see what's wrong with the battery, if at all; or tried calling Toshiba with your questions? I have a Toshiba laptop on SP2 and have not noticed any different as yet; it could be a hardware issue.

It might be software clashes - I'll probably end up reformatting the entire HDD to get the much uneeded software out.

Thanks,
