Sphere XP

Anyone ever use Sphere XP, or a similiar 3D desktop? How did you like it? Do you still use it? This kind of looks like Avalon, or what I've seen of it so far.

Looks interesting. I'd try it if I had an extra box to put it on.

I feel I will lose everything in it. I am bad enough looking after stuff in this 3D world, let alone getting all my programs and icons and putting them all in a massive sphere.

Haha very true, same with me. But this program does look intersting. A fun way to tinker around. I'll try it out and gove you my impressions!

EDIT: Well i just tryied it out. Interesting! More of a novalty than anything else. although you can fit many windows into the sphere. "Whatsthisboxfor" don't worry, theyre is a map that will help you find all you icons and windows.

it didn't seem to take up much system resource, but i only played with it for a little. Fun to put on and amuse your friends, but not very practical

I would second Doobie's point. I did try it and the idea is cool but it just ran too slow on my system so I did away with it. It didn't really outweigh the RAM that it took up with performance.

Thats funny, because i have a barebones system and mind ran very smooth. I even opened a few apps to check it out. I don't even have a graphics card!

onboard graphics and 256 ram here, but what programs did you open? solitaire? run something like prime95 (okay maybe not that) but........dreamweaver, a program that definitally (sp.?) slowed it down.

I finally tried it out. Pretty cool, but no practical use really.

LoL no i did NOT just open solitare!

I had itunes open and i also opened Macromodia Flash MX to test it out. Seemed pretty smooth to me...i didn't have it on the highest quality thought, the second to highest (not sure what it was called)
