old msn messenger

hello guys,
I installed winxp lately and i installed a new version of msn messenger and i'm trying to unsinstall the old version but i'm failing in doing so. I cant find it in Add/Remove programs and i cant delete the whole folder containing the old messenger. what can i do?

Try booting into safe mode and see if you can delete the folder from there.

Click, start>run then paste all of this into the run dialogue box and click OK.

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

Restart your machine and messenger 4.7 will be gone.
If you are using the updated 6.2 it will probably uninstall that as well, but the next time you try to use 6.2 it will just prompt you to reinstall it and it takes just a minute or so, also it doesn't loose any of your 6.2 settings.

Deleting a program folder such as messenger is likely to cause your system to become unstable, you would be far better advised to actually uninstall a program. Even if the folder was not listed in your programs list, it is still part of the start up procedure and as such it could cause you problems in the future.
