Looking for file backup freeware
I am looking for a program that will search for my PSD files and then copy them to a CD. I tried using the search on windows but I could not just copy the files. The PSD's are scattered all over my computer, and I have 800 of them

Windows Search should be up for the task. Just try this which I do which works for me
1. Open Search 2. enter criteria and start 3. When complete press CTRL and A (which selects all files) 4. press CTRL and C (which copies files to memory) 5. Find the destination folder and open it where you want the files to go 6. Press CTRL and V (which should paste all files) and in your case, unless you are using a CD-RW capable CD writer or the blank CD is set up to allow for direct file copying, use your burning software supplied with the drive or thrid party software, locate the files and burn them as normal. Hope this helped as it works for me. |

Sounds like one or a few of the files you are trying to copy is locked out for some reason or corrupted.
Try doing what I said but select the files by using the mouse instead of CTRL A but not so many of them at one time, start with say 10 files, if that works then do the next 10 or 20, then if it goes ok for a while then blam, error message you might be able to locate the suspect file/s that is causing the problem. I am thinking that one or a few files out of the 800 are stopping you. if this does not work full stop then... I will go and find my thinking cap

Great, Glad to have helped. One thing, maybe just to do some general TLC afterwards, it might pay to run Checkdisk on your drive.
Open My Computer right click on the disk you want to check ('C:') select Properties go to the Tools tab and under 'Error Checking' click on Check Now, select options as required and start the scan. See what it reports back if anything. |
