I just need some type of program so that i can take a video (i think its .avi) and create a file from it that is just the audio part of it (preferrably to MP3 or AAC

For AVI files, use VirtualDub to copy the sound file off the AVI.

If it's already MP3, you're done, otherwise you need an MP3 encoder to convert the audio to MP3.

Also, Goldwave can do this quite easily: just open the avi in it and save as mp3 (it also allows you to select bitrate, and any other format as well). Make sure to download the LAME encoder from them too.

thanks...i went w/ goldwave cuz i got confused by all the mirrors for that other thing and couldnt get it to download...how do i make it do the avi-mp3 now im always bad at figuring htis stuff out.
