OK can anyone spills it out in a way that makes sense???
Is there a way to dual boot WinXP Pro with win98SE with two seperate hard drives without any "boot manager" and without reformating any of the drives Setup: Drive C: WinXP Pro : NTFS Drive D: Win98 SE : FAT32 I have read what the HPRO guy was doing http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.p...839#post150839 and seriously i thinks he is full of ?? unless xp is formatted in FAT as well, there is no way in the recovery console that you will be able to switch and view the directory on the other drive.... I have tried it and returned "bad command" or something that nature... "But you are very welcome to prove me wrong" Next some other guy suggested to do this stuff ..... http://www.winxpfix.com/page5.htm#howwin982000 which also fails returning missing dll files By the way I do not mind switching any of the drives around.... Either I am missing one part of the info..... or everybody pretends they're the s?!t...(Pardon my french... but it gets upsetting...) but really have no clue.... and can't do it..... So If you do Know how it is properly done... could you please be kind enough to let me know "with every detailed steps???" Like for ex: drive letter, clean install or upgrade , which drive to boot in Bios first, boot in XP or 98, or boot from cd, repair at the first sign of "R" or second time and so on..... So Who is the real Genious out there ?? or It simply... can't be done..... Thank you very much for your responses.....If any A desparate fool... |

w98 must be installed first, then xp will set up the boot menue for you,
if you do not want to do that, then you must edit the boot.ini file as per instructions you already have. Last edited by bailey; 12-07-2004 at 09:20 AM. |

If you are not willing to wipe the drives and do it the recommended way (install 98 first, followed by XP) you must use an alternate method. Hpro's method works, just read it carefully, keeping in mind that English is not his native language.
I'd also recommend that you read the forum rules. We have standards here that you don't find on a lot of forums these days - we actually require that members show some respect. This also applies to the 2 members that have replied, do not fight fire with fire. - Moderator - |

First of...Mr Mod let me appologize for my burst of anger but dealing with this drove me a little insane.... second i hate when people sometimes give advices without knowing the real impact .....and i am not saying this is the case....but after trying the recovery console thing I am a bit sceptical.....
As Anyone tryed to switch dir in recovery console on 2 different file system....?? unless i am retarded, it does not seem like it can be done...... |
