Problem ripping DVD copies
I have a problem with ripping software, I can rip fine original DVDs but I can`t rip copied DVDs with any of the applications I use (Nero Recode, DVDDecripter, DVD Shrink etc.) I get an I/O error or a redundance error while the program is loading the disk, I use a LG 4160B (A302) firmware DVD Burner, Nero recode 2.1 and Princo 4x DVDs to make the copies.

How old are the Princo DVDs you are trying to rip ? Do they play fine, though ?

yes they play fine, but I don`t know how much time they were in the store, I burn them yesterday, and I was curious about this so I tried to rip them too, they came in a disk spindle. but I don`t think they are too old, DVD media is supposed to last more than 20 years doesn`t it?

Isn't this some kind of copy protection that prevents copying copies - only allows copies of the original?

yes I was thinking about that possibility, but I don`t Know if nero recode add that protection to the DVDs created with that app.

I don't think that DVD Decrypter and the other programs don't take out such kind of copy protection if it exists. I've heard about it, too, but I think it's planned, and does not yet exist.
I re-burned some of my backups, and never had a problem like that. What I do know is that Princo DVDs are just cheap non-reliable discs. More than 20 years for a Princo. . I seriously doubt that. From what I've read so far, if you are lucky to successfully burn on a Princo, you will usually have errors in the outer area within half a year. After about a year the Princo is gone for good. Therefore, I wouldn't use Princo. But if said DVDs play fine on the PC, then they are readable. What happens if you just use Windows-Explorer to copy the files ? I mean, since they are already copies, they don't have a copy protection anymore. Also, at what speed did you burn the DVDs ? RJ |

I burned the DVD at 4X, and yes princo DVD are the cheapest DVDs I found in the market maybe the media is defective so the DVD can read it, but rip is something apart, I guess when you rip the DVD reader makes a more extensive review of the data, and there is where the problems begins, I will try to copy the files directly with the windows explorer, I didn`t know you can do that once the copy is done.
