Tranfering games from old pc to new...

Ok so im biulding my new pc.

I was gonna sell the old pc once i get everything over to the new pc. but I have some questions.

1. How do I get the cd keys for say unreal tournament off of the old pc and onto the new one? just uninstall the game? (same question for norton anti virus... ect)

2. Im going to leave windows xp on this system. So once I get all my games and programs over. How do I basicaly erase all the info on the hard drive except windows xp? so none of my private info is left on it... just like a clean start when someone buys a new pc.

3. After I erase all the info, I plan on selling this pc somewhere... could I do that safely with xp still on it? or does that hold some of my info?

4. Is there some cord i could buy, or well do I just need an ethernet cord and plug it into both pcs and I could transfer files like music and videos that way?

5. Once I biuld the new pc. is there anything I would need to buy besides another copy windows xp? would my mouse, speakers, ect need to be instaled again? because i really forget where I put all the cd's... lol

I don't think you can do it that way your thinking, they would need to be installed on the new system.

if the new system has the same hardware you could use ghost, but I don't think you can do that eather,

you will need to buy a new xp cd to install on the new system if you plan on leaving it on the old system and you will need to include the xp cd with the old system, or remove it.

it will be best if you just reinstall everything new on the new system and do a format of the old system and go from there,

you can save some of your personal data from the old system, but that would be about all.

yeha, just bought all the parts, and windows xp home for the new pc.

but there has to be a way to install the games using same key? because Ive instaled them atleast 2 times on my current pc. uninstalling them must declare the cd key valid again...

Reinstalling the games on a new PC with the original media and your legal key should be no problem. I would also recommend you reformat the old PC - and if you want, reinstall XP fresh, activate it, and provide the media and key to the buyer.
