splat Trouble with Adaptec CD burning software

I am continually getting a message that reads "CD not compatible" when trying to put files on. I tried first music files then data files. I also tried changing disk brands.
I reinstalled the software - still nothing.
I ran a system check (on the program) - nada
I went to the website for more info - short of paying $80 for an upgrade, nothing.

I am about at wits end here. I have been using this same program for about four years with no problem..

One last note: I recently upgraded my hardware and this is the first time I have used Adaptec Easy CD Creator since. Is it possible that my system and this software are not compatible anymore?

TIA..

try checking your burner type (+ or -) and cd (whether you have a CD-R or a CD+R). + burners only work with + cds, and - burners only work with - cds. I had the same problem once, and almost sent my computer back to compaq, but i noticed whats wrong just in time.

You are confusing CD's with DVD's - there is no such thing as + or - CD's, only DVD's.

If your software is that old, it may not be compatible with 700mb media, only 650mb. Is your version compatible with your operating system and your CD burner? I think it's time to retire it if it and your burner is 4 years old.

Spending $80 is insane, for 24 bucks shipped you can buy a brand new 52x Lite-On burner that comes with Nero software. This can burn a full CD in about 3 minutes - I remember when it took 40 minutes.

Thanks for the advice. Yeah, I know it's old. I just moved my disc drives and this software over when the system was upgraded. I had hoped to wait before spending more $$ on peripherals and drives but it is looking more and more necessary..

Appreciate it!
Cheers.
