Screenshot Software (freeware)

Hi all,

Can anyone recommend a good freeware download to take screenshots in WinXP Pro SP2? I want something that will literally just take a snapshot of exactly what's on the screen and I have found that the "Print Screen" key doesn't always work properly or consistently.

Thanks folks,
Stryker

that is a feature that in built into windows
the print screen key will take a shot of the sereen and place it into the clip board, you can then paste it in any document file you want, like word, paint ect.

I have used the Windows printscreen many times, but it isn't consistent for all applications that I use. For example, when I am running my video capture software (Mediostream NeoTV) and I press the Print Screen key on my keyboard (I've tried Alt + Print Screen as well and no luck) it actually captures the input "signal" and when I paste it into Photoshop, Paint, Word, anywhere it actually displays the capture signal in the screenprint. When I save it and open it, it just shows black with no image.

I have seen mention of software for screen capturing on this forum but can't seem to find the post with it mentioned.

Try screenhunter, I don't exactly have the link off hand as I am at work. But that should be what your looking for.

The Windows printscreen does not capture the overlay (regardless of hardware acceleration setting). Except for that, it always works.

The video capture program should have a snapshot feature, in order to capture the overlay.

Thanks Tech Guy!
That's exactly what I need (I just googled it and downloaded). I will give it a shot tonight and see if it works with my NeoTV software.

I have looked through all the preferences and tools and stuff but couldn't find anything. Perhaps I'll do a little more poking around in the software to see if there's a snapshot feature.

Thanks very much guys,
Stryker
