Nero Backup Question
Sorry, I don't have time to search the forums because I have to go to a movie really soon, so this might have been asked already. It's unlikey though. I need to reformat this computer, but I wanted to save some stuff so I went to back it up, I was going to use the IBM rapid restore utility, but there's some file missing, so I used the Nero Backup software. It says, save programs and documents, but is simply selecting the Ahead (people who make nero) file in Program Files enough to save Nero? This is just an example, saving Nero is actually useless because I have to have it on the computer to restore the backup anyways. Thanks.

Nero Backup can selectively back up files and folders, or do a complete drive backup. No, it's not enough to just back up the Ahead folder, you need the original install CD or downloaded install file to reinstall it and most Windows-based programs.

But then what's the point in backing up program files at all? If you have the original then you could just reinstall it anyways. Oh well, thanks for the help glc.

There is no point - just backup your data files. The time to do a full backup is before things corrupt, not after - then you can restore the whole thing including the registry.
