Annoying Windows Media Player?

I have just had about 5 viruses (Trojans) on my PC because of looking at stupid porn sites I have removed these stupid items and all spyware etc. But ever since windows media player 9 automatically starts when I start Windows XP Pro. I have checked the options in media player and cannot see anything that makes it start whenever I start windows. Is there anything else that could be causing this annoyance. Please help

Start > Run > type: msconfig

See if it is in the startup list.

Thanks I tried this, it is not in the start-up list. I tried installing Media Player 10 and now when it boots up it brings up an error message stating that Media Player 10 was not installed correctly and to visit Microsofts website, which I did and re-installed it and got the same message on start-up of Windows. So I have taken that off and went back to version 9 which still starts when Windows starts Is there anyway to uninstall this stupid Media player or is it built into Windows? I have a feeling I am going to have to live with this annoyance.

Read the sticky thread in the Security forum, do all it says to do, then post a HijackThis log. Note that you must run HJT *immediately* after a reboot before opening anything else.
