Application file removal
I installed an Apllicaion type file to a game on my p.c. that isn't working properly (It doesn't complete the install) and when I try to deleted it I get a msg "Make sure the disk is not full or write protected and that the file is not currently in use"
The file is not in use. I did a search and it is onlly listed in my Document folder. As to write protection, I'm not sure. Is there a way to get it off my p.c. ? Thanks

Right click on it, select properties, and see if the read-only box is checked on it. If it is, uncheck it.
If that doesn't help, I sometimes find that file-shredding tools, as can be found in Steganos Security Suite or the free Spybot S&D can delete files which are reluctant to be deleted. I'm not sure if this applies to your current situation, but I recently found this link posted by someone here and it helped me with a problem I was having being unable to delete a folder: http://support.microsoft.com/default...308421&sd=tech |

Thanks guys, I did a file search and found that if the file was located in more than one place, they all had to be removed before deletion would work.
I got that done and have another question. I want to install the 1965 mod (same program as above) to my gpl legends game. In the past it has been a total no brainer. Download, click on setup, and go. Now when I download the mod file, it goes to C:\Windows\Prefetch and is listed as C:\Windows\Prefetch\gpls_1_1_full.exe-2AE9CBFE.PF Window cannot open it and I have no way of executing the setup file. Could this file be diverted into the Prefetch file due to a restriction in my security software? I got rid of Norton and am using System Mechanis5 Pro. Thanks for any suggestions

Windows defaults to hiding extensions for known file types and EVERYONE should disable that. Folder options, View tab.
The downloaded file should be gpls_1_1_full.exe - browse to where you saved it and double click it. |
