Driver conflict problems
Hello Folks.
I just installed my comptuer tv-tuner the ATI TV Wonder Pro - without remote. Getting straight to the point, the drivers conflicted with MS Windows XP booting up. As recommended by PR, I went ahead and allowed my system to give me a BSOD - and it did. The screen is attatched - showing a form of driver conflict. These are the steps I took to installing my card. I physically opened my build and inserted the card into a PCI-slot (slot #2 from the AGP slot). I fixed it in place and closed everything up. Then, I booted - obviously, WinXP gave me the "New hardware found" message. I bypassed that and went straight to the driver CD given to me. It installed a few software, among them what seemed to be DirectX software. Then, after rebooting, the system acted up. Safe Mode works fine - posting from safe mode, actually. Any suggestions? Thanks, kram

*Forgot to attatch image - sorry about the double post.
I'm going ahead and trying driver updates right now - went to ATI and see if that will do anything. I'll be back with results - comments/suggestions are still very appreciated. EDIT2 - Updating drivers was not an option in safe mode - Installishield refused to run. EDIT 3: This has been a one man thread so far with the problem resolved. I did not know what I did during Safe Mode that made the system boot correctly in normal mode - but I'm in the regular Windows Environment now. The problem is I'm exactly where I started - the TV does not work yet. I will post back with more results. kram Last edited by kram 2.0; 01-08-2005 at 08:08 PM. |

Sorry for the tripple post, as I am unable to now edit the previous two posts any further. I was pretty stressed out about this and so decided to shift the card down two slots - it worked for the sound card, why not for this? Moved it to PCI #4 under the Sound card which was on PCI#3 and though Windows still failed to recognize any drivers, it worked. Any ideas on how to let MS Windows see the drivers?
Thanks. kram |

Try that TV card in another computer. If the same kind of problem comes up, the TV card is defective.

No experience with TV cards but I would take out the card, uninstall all the softwares, reboot, install the software FIRST and then install the card.
If your OS direct x is simiar or higher than the version on the installer, don't install over it.
