"Nero Included" question
So, I'm looking at buying the LG CDRW/DVD-ROM combo....the retail version comes packaged with Nero 6.x. I am also planning on buying the NEC ND-3250 (DVD+/-RW). What I want to know is: Will the copy of Nero that comes with the LG drive also work with the NEC drive? The reason I ask is because in my current computer I have a CDRW drive that came packaged with Nero. A buddy of mine was having difficulty with his copy of Nero, so I let him borrow my disc. After he got it all installed, it said that copy of Nero could only be used with the drive it came with.
Thanks. |

The copy of NERO that comes packaged with a burner is keyed to that burner only. If you want NERO to work with several burners, you gotta get the retail version.

Thanks cricket.....that's what I thought. So next question...anybody know where to get an inexpensive copy of Nero?
Oh, and I've also heard that there have been some problems with newer updates/upgrades? Which version (at this point) is the best/has the least probs? |

I've been using Nero 6 Ultra for a while without a hitch. If you don't want to spend that much, check out Nero 5.

The OEM version of Nero 6 can be found on Pricewatch for about $4 or $5.

There is no guarantee that the $5 OEM Nero will work with all drives.

I have what the disk says is an OEM copy of Nero 6 (came with my burner) and all it came with was Nero Express and some other tools - I had to buy the full version of Nero to get the actual Nero Burning Rom program. Other OEM versions might be different - but that is what came with my drive.
