looking for some advice on GPS map software.
Is anyone using one of these programs with your laptop? I saw one by Microsoft today at Staples that comes with the trip and maps with the GPS device included thats powered by the usb con on my laptop. I was wondering if anyone has one of these type of programs?

Yeah am using Microsoft Streets and Trips w/ GPS locator. It's quite nice, if you go with someone else who can operate your laptop and give you directions. Very responsive, and computes rather quickly.
The downside, it doesn't update the directions based on where you are automatically. Meaning that you have to "refresh" the directions manually to have the directions revised. Good cheap alternative to more dedicated solutions. |

Take a look at DeLorme. I personally feel it's far superior to Microsoft's.
