Web Browser for 2 Computers?
Here's the situation...is there a program out there that allows you to surf the internet while sharing with another. For instance my girlfriend lives 50 miles away...I want her to be online with me and I want to surf the internet and I want her to be able to see what I'm surfing...like surfing together? I have to constantly copy and paste links and I hate it...is there any web browser or programs out there that can do this. I have Mozilla Firefox now but is there anything out there like this?

ICQ Surf - surf with a friend
Ramble the vast Internet highways with fellow Internet travelers while enjoying mutually fun and interesting Web browsing adventures. ICQ Surf allows you to communicate through public chat and personal instant messages with other ICQ Surf users while simultaneously browsing the same Web page. Great for discovering others who share your interests or hobbies. It's the ideal way to share your knowledge and experiences, receive and transfer to other users' tips and ideas as you browse from Web page to Web page soaking up all that the Internet has to offer http://www.snapfiles.com/get/icqsurf.html

Use the share desktop feature on Windows Messenger or Netmeeting; share yours or your girlfriend's desktop and you can both use the same browser. Of course, only one of you will have control of the mouse and keyboard at one time. But it allows you to do what you were asking for, without having to use a secondary program. Windows messenger comes with most XP systems.

Simple method. Start a conversation with the person then go to the Actions menu > Start Application sharing. The other person must accept the invitation, you should see a new sharing session window open up. (If you cannot connect, you will need to check with your firewall mfger on allowing MSN's ports. The general rule of thumb is that if you can do voice/video with it then you should be fine for app sharing.) Click the share button and then share the program - say Mozilla - it should already be running at this point (remember to turn on Share in true color, as well as share in true color, if you would like the other person to be given control of the program - this will allow the person to ask for control of your desktop .. its in the Controls menu) and be able to type and stuff.
Tip: Say you share only mozilla with your friend, and you place an MSN window on the foreground; that area will get shaded out for her, because she is obviously not authorized to view it. For best results, you can share the "Desktop"; this will give control of the entire desktop window, not just your browser. Also helps if you dont keep a lot of windows open when you start sharing, it makes the time to draw the remote desktop way too long. There are a number of options and possibilities with this that you can use, play with it. As an alternative, you can also use netmeeting that comes with every windows computer for a while now (START > RUN > conf.exe), this is a one-on-one application, where you need to dial into the other person's IP address - if the person is waiting with netmeeting. Remember that the first time you go through a wizard for audio and video setup. From there you can use share application just like what I described above. Read the help for netmeeting for more information. HTH |
