EZ AV Review

Hello my name is John Stevens and I'm just giving you a buyers tip on EZ Antivirus. I do not recommend EZ Antivirus for customers to use. Some Computer Companies use EZ AV as a way to get you too come back to them. How this works is EZ Antivirus has a built in timer that lets off a internet virus while at the same time disabeling your internet firewall as well as other firewalls. How to get out of this, I recommend using Norton Antivirus. Norton does not have a built in timer and is a very good firewall for your PC. And if a computer companie asks if you want EZ AV please say no unless you want to go through what I went through. Thanks for reading this. Have a nice day.

Sincerley,
John Stevens

Your a computer consultant and you deal with companies at the age of 15?

Anyways, I think most people around here tend to stick to the larger names such as Norton or AVG if you want a free option... Never heard of EZ Antivirus. Thanks for the heads up though. Although I dont know what would make me stear away from my beloved AVG

SBC Yahoo! Offers EZ AV (by Computer Associates-CA) FREE to its premium users. I had it for awhile, with no ill effects. I guess I removed it before the time bomb went off :/

yes I am very good at computers for my age. I own a company and fix computers, and do some web making, but I'm suprised you have never seen EZ AV before. It's popular for alot of computer companies. But (51) just a question how long did you have it for?

ComputerConsultant44, you failed to read the posting guidelines for this specific forum.

-----------------------------

http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=57266

This forum is for our members to post their own reviews of software. We hope many of you will contribute. You can review some of the software you use on your PC or software you just bought. Its up to you.

Since this forum will be used as a reference for others, we are imposing some stricter formatting rules here than in the rest of the forum. Here are a few basic guidelines:

- Please enter the name of the software, including manufacturer, as the title of your thread

- Any reviews must be written so as to be useful for other members and the surfing public. Something like "its great" is not going to fly. Treat this as an opportunity to write a "mini-article", pointing out the good and bad, with a final rating at the bottom, x out of 10.

- Replies posted to any review must add value to the original poster's review. A review is not an invitiation to start an unrestrained conversation.

In the future, I may approve all posts before they go up, but we'll see how it goes. With your cooperation and contributions, I think the user reviews will be quite useful for folks.

----------------

Your review fails to comply with those guidelines.

Now - if you wish to be successful in your endeavor, you will not spread rubbish around like you just did. That is acting totally irresponsibly for a professional such as you claim to be. A company such as Computer Associates would not put a time bomb in their software. It just happens to be the same software that Microsoft packed a 1 year free trial along with their free Windows Security CD last year, and the EZ Firewall (part of that free package) is actually a rebadged Zone Alarm PRO. I agree, EZ is not the best AV package out there, but it hardly does anything malicious. You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but let's not spread misinformation around about something that you feel is not up to your standards. If you had an incident using that software, you need to examine the issue more closely before blaming the software. The virus writers know about antivirus software and how to write code to disable it - it happens all the time with MANY brands of security software including Norton - as a professional myself, I've seen that several times.

Now - we do not care how old anyone here is or what they know, but these forums are not the appropriate place for "showing off". Go do that in real life with your peers if you must act that way and remove that tagline from your signature, please.

ZeratulsAvenger - your opening comment was not appropriate either.
