I have had a awful time with norton and mcafee, so I could use some input. I like BitDefender however don't know much about.....

AVG 7.0 is THE most recommended free AV on this forum. It's all I use anymore. Same for all my customers. Works great.

Have a look in the securities forum, there have been a few antivirus debates in there recently.
Here's a link to just one of them.

PC-Cillin 2005 includes a firewall - and a small footprint from what I can tell so far. It's highly customizable and it's firewall isn't as obtrustive as Zone Alarm.

AVG Free is nice because it's, well, free - but with it being free, it's not very customizable (you cannot change the scanning schedule....). And it's footprint seems a bit larger.

Just my observations.

Dave.

I usually wait for sales on the website - got mine when it was $29. I think Amazon has it pretty cheap too.

Actually you can change the schedule. It's right there under "scheduler". Anyway, I like AVG a lot. I've been using it for over four years and I have never had any problems. It has a small footprint (700kb) and works excellently. My router is my firewall so I don't have much experience with software firewalls.
