DVD Audio Extraction

Ok, another DVD thread by me

I recently bought Rush In Rio DVD and as I was watching it I thought it might be nice to have on CD/MP3. THere is a cd available of the concert, but why buy it when I've already bought the music. So is there some way to extract the audio from it into MP3's. I'd like a way to either extract each chapter seperately or maually select the title/chapter to extract. This way I could get each song seperately (since each song is a chapter) Does anyone know of any software capable of something like this. Thanks

Actually, the license that comes with a DVD is for the video - not the music. And since the music is available seperately on CD, I would argue you don't own the rights to a personal copy of just the music from the DVD.

I suppose it's a moderator's call, but you might check the FAQ before pursuing this. Just my opinion.

Dave.

This is originally from a thread by Xayd:

To get songs or audio off of DVD:

Get dvd decrypter, go to mode/ifo

Go to stream processing tab, highlight the track you want, uncheck the rest that you don't want, select demux, click on the go button.

If it's a concert DVD or some such there's an option in the settings to have it split the file by chapter too so that'll even have the songs already cut out for you.
Or from another thread by Xayd also:

Quote:
Go download DVD Decrypter from http://www.doom9.org

Open it up, go to mode, IFO. Select your DVD drive as the source.

There should be a tab that says "stream processing". Click on it, highlight the audio track. Then check off "enable stream processing", and select "demux".

Then click on the DVD > HD button and it'll rip out the audio track you selected (along with all of the files on the DVD itself probably, which you can delete).

What you have then is the whole movie sound stream in AC3 format, which you can convert to MP3 or WAV or whatever via HeadAC3he, also downloadable at doom9.

Both apps are freeware.

I don't believe so. Because the video is nothing without the music. I don't think they can say that in order to listen to the music, you have to have the video playing. The CD is chepaer than the DVD, explaining having both. Legal or not (although I'd think legal) if I buy the DVD, I have every right to the music that is on that DVD.

And thanks for those Kov-Ice, I'll look into that

I just use the freeware AudioGrabber and grab the sound from the sound card to convert it to MP3. I have several concert DVDs and use the >> to cue the DVD up and record it. It's a bit tedious. But it works.
