Program to record whats on the Screen

Hey all,

I was just looking for a program that will record what is on my screen and what is said into a microphone into a file (.avi, .mpeg, .anything). I would like to be free, but post any you know of (including ones that don't record microphone too, but please state so if it doesn't), it would help me a lot.

Thanks!

well i know of a trick to take a picture of your desktop. However all it does is take a snapshot, it doesnt show you anything that your doing etc. no microphone recording. heres the trick:

push "PRINT SCREEN" (next to F12 key)
click "Start"
click "Run"
Type "mspaint"
Click "Edit"
click "paste"

and there you have it, a screenshot of your desktop saved in an easy to workwith .bmp file....hope this helps

Nash

There are programs that can record the desktop. I just did a google search and here are two examples:

FRAPS is a very popular program for that, if I'm not mistaken. The free version does leave a watermark though, and has limited resolution.

If CamStudio is around, it'll work really good.

I'm not sure about the audio/mic capability but I use Irfanview for screen captures. It's free and offers additional features like resizing images.

http://www.irfanview.com/

Just rechecked and Irfanview does have audio features. Also has some plugins to support additonal audio formats.

I'm assuming screen capture as a VIDEO.
